Amritsar: Three men waylaid a lawyer and shot at him 10 times when he was driving to the district court complex here on Monday morning, said Amritsar (rural) senior superintendent of police Maninder Singh.Three of the bullets struck the victim, Lakhwinder Singh, who was driving a car when he was attacked in Jandiala Guru, 18km from here, and crashed the hatchback into the closed shutter of a shop.The assailants are yet to be identified. According to police, the three attackers were already waiting for Lakhwinder on his usual route to the court complex when they opened fire at his car and escaped on motorcycles. Police said the faces of the accused were covered.Lakhwinder was rushed to a private hospital for treatment. The SSP informed that Lakhwinder was out of danger and recovering in the hospital.The SSP said the initial probe suggested the shooting to be the fallout of a personal enmity. Police said Lakhwinder had left home early in the morning due to a heavy court schedule. Police are investigating the incident and scanning footage of the CCTV cameras installed in nearby areas, added the SSP. An FIR has been registered at Jandiala Guru police station.
