Bicholim: Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) has taken measures to ensure smooth traffic in the Bicholim market area during Ganesh Chaturthi this year.Former BMC chairperson Vijayakumar Natekar said the market witnesses a heavy rush of people, particularly during peak hours in the festival season.Natekar said parking spaces for two-wheelers have been provided inside and outside the premises of the govt primary school, Bicholim. A vacant plot near the Bicholim market has been earmarked for four-wheelers, and a private property will be available for parking all types of vehicles.The former chairperson said traffic police personnel are monitoring vehicular movement in the market area. The main access to the market has also been closed to regulate traffic movement.He added that vendors would not be permitted to occupy spaces outside the areas specified for them to ensure discipline and smooth movement of people during the Matoli bazaar.Civic authorities have urged visitors to use the designated parking areas and cooperate with the police and municipal staff during the festive period..
