Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar recorded the highest number of traffic violations in the state between 2024 and 2026 (till Aug), while Cuttack topped Odisha in motor vehicle fine collection, according to data tabled in the assembly.The figures were furnished by commerce and transport minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena in reply to a question from MLA Pratap Keshari Deb on enforcement of motor vehicle laws across the state on Thursday.According to the data, Cuttack RTO issued 10,844 e-challans and collected Rs 1.07 crore in penalties, the highest among all RTOs covered in the report.Bhubaneswar, however, registered the largest number of violations. Its two RTOs together issued 13,884 e-challans during the period. Of these, RTO-I accounted for 9,496 challans and seized 144 vehicles for various violations.In terms of revenue collection, Bhubaneswar ranked second. RTO-I collected Rs 56.85 lakh in penalties, while RTO-II collected Rs 25.46 lakh, taking the combined collection to over Rs 82 lakh.
