Varanasi: Centre for study of Nepal, department of political science, faculty of social sciences, Banaras Hindu University, is organising a 3-day international conference titled ‘Democracy in Transition: Nepal’s Political Dilemmas and Prospects’ from Mar 13 to 15.The convener, Prof Abhinav Sharma, said conference will bring together scholars, policy practitioners and researchers from India and Nepal to deliberate on Nepal’s democratic transition, constitutionalism, govt, and accountability, inclusion and human rights, youth participation, development and regional aspirations and South Asian geopolitics.The conference will be attended by eminent guests from India and Nepal, including Prof S D Muni, Professor Emeritus, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; Prof Mahendra P Lama, former Vice Chancellor, Central University of Sikkim, Centre for South Asian Studies, School of International Studies, JNU; Shambhu Ram Simkhada, former Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN; Prof Krishna Hachhethu, former head of of political science department, Tribhuvan University, Nepal; and Prof Meena Vaidya Malla, former head, department of political science, Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
