Jaipur: A heated exchange reportedly took place between former minister Ramlal Jat and Congress functionary Dheeraj Gurjar at the party’s war room Saturday over ticket distribution for the upcoming urban local body elections in Bhilwara, sources said.The disagreement reportedly began over candidates being proposed by the two leaders for different wards in Bhilwara and escalated after Jat allegedly called Gurjar a “goonda”. The two then exchanged heated and abusive remarks in the presence of Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully.“The dispute was over ticket distribution in Bhilwara. Both leaders were pitching their preferred candidates for the urban local body polls,” a source familiar with the discussions said.Dotasra and Jully intervened and managed to calm the situation. Sources said the two leaders were subsequently asked to leave the war room and warned against allowing details of the altercation to emerge outside.“Both leaders were told to maintain discipline and ensure that the matter did not go beyond the room,” another source said.The incident comes amid hectic negotiations within Congress to finalise candidates for the urban local body elections, with competing claims by senior leaders adding to the pressure on the ticket-selection process.TOI contacted both Jat and Gurjar for their comments on the incident, but neither responded to calls or messages.
