AHILYANAGAR: Taural India inaugurated its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Supa MIDC in Ahilyanagar, marking a significant milestone in Maharashtra’s strategy of decentralized industrial growth and import-substitution manufacturing. The project is part of the investment agreements signed during the World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos 2025.The facility was inaugurated by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of senior government officials, industry leaders, and stakeholders. Recognising his contribution to industrial development beyond traditional urban centres, Bharat Gite, Founder and CEO of Taural India, was described as a brand ambassador for Maharashtra Industrial Development, symbolising the state’s confidence in homegrown entrepreneurs. The inauguration ceremony held at Supa MIDC, Ahilyanagar, was attended by Maharashtra Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Ahilyanagar Guardian Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Member of Parliament Dr. Bhagwat Karad, MLAs Suresh Dhas and Vikram Pachpute, Mahant Namdev Shastri of Bhagwan Gada, Mahant Shivaji Maharaj of Narayan Gada, District Collector Pankaj Aashiya, Chief Executive Officer Anand Bhandari, renowned as the “Aluminium Man of India” and Founder of Taural India Bharat Gite, and Director Prachi Gite, among other dignitaries, who were present on the dais.Addressing the gathering, CM Fadnavis said the Supa project reflects Maharashtra’s growing industrial confidence and commitment to spreading development across regions. “It gives me immense joy to inaugurate this project today. This facility is a celebration of Maharashtra’s industrial confidence. I especially congratulate Bharat Gite, who has built this enterprise entirely on his own strength and completed it in record time,” Fadnavis said.Highlighting the scale of investment in the region, the CM noted that nearly Rs50,000 crore of investment has been attracted to all five districts of North Maharashtra, with Ahilyanagar alone accounting for Rs11,519 crore, expected to generate employment for around 18,000 people. Overall, these investments are projected to create nearly 75,000 jobs across North Maharashtra.Fadnavis underlined that Supa MIDC was developed to create new industrial hubs beyond Mumbai, MMR and Pune. “Our aim was to decentralize industrial development. Supa MIDC was envisioned as a new industrial magnet, and today we see that vision becoming a reality,” he said.Emphasizing the importance of domestic manufacturing, the Chief Minister said projects like Taural India are strengthening India’s self-reliance. “Last year at Davos, we signed MoUs worth Rs16 lakh crore, and 75 per cent of them are already active. Today’s project is one such successful outcome,” he noted.Fadnavis stressed that ease of doing business, cost of doing business, and law and order are critical for industrial success. He also highlighted India’s economic trajectory, stating that manufacturing and technology would be key pillars in sustaining long-term growth as the country moves towards a $5 trillion economy.“Whatever we are forced to import today must be manufactured in India. Taural India is doing exactly that by creating import substitutes,” he said.Bharat Gite said manufacturing currently contributes 10–12 per cent to India’s GDP, with the national vision to raise this to 25 per cent. He added that Maharashtra has already achieved nearly 16 per cent manufacturing contribution, positioning it as a leading industrial state.Recalling Taural India’s journey since its inception in 2016, Gite said the company has grown fourfold over the past decade. Drawing from his professional experience in Germany, including work with companies like BMW, he said the decision to return to India was driven by the belief that world-class manufacturing capabilities could be built domestically. He also recalled his first interaction with Chief Minister Fadnavis at Hannover Messe in 2015, which played a key role in Taural India’s decision to invest in Maharashtra. The company commissioned its Chakan plant within two years of signing its first MoU, and by 2025 the facility had reached full capacity, employing around 900 people and producing nearly 300 tonnes per month.Taural India manufactures critical components for energy conservation, railways, healthcare, and defence, including engine blocks and gear cores that were earlier imported. The company has contributed to national projects such as Amrit Bharat and Sarath Tank.In 2025, Taural India signed another MoU at WEF Davos in the presence of the Chief Minister and Industries Minister Uday Samant, following which the Supa plant was completed and operational within a year.Gite acknowledged early challenges related to workforce training, technology adoption and finance, crediting family support and strong local roots for sustaining growth. He announced that Taural India’s journey will be featured as a case study at Harvard Business School in April 2026, highlighting its collaboration with global partners and the Maharashtra government.Reaffirming the company’s commitment to regional development, Gite said Taural India will continue to focus on employment generation, skill development, and strengthening the local industrial ecosystem in Ahilyanagar.
