PUNE: The family of Pune realtor Ketan Vishal Agarwal is set to meet Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in Pune on Friday.According to news agency ANI, Fadnavis is visiting Pune to attend multiple events, and the Agarwal family has reached one of the venues where the chief minister is expected to arrive.Ahead of the meeting, Fadnavis described the case as “extremely shocking” and said it should be viewed not only as a crime but also as an issue requiring deeper social reflection.“This is an extremely shocking incident, something beyond imagination. It is the kind of incident that compels us, as a society, to seriously reflect. Why do children from educated and well-settled families develop such malicious and destructive thinking? What are the reasons behind this mindset? We need to think deeply about it,” he said.“In reality, this case should not be viewed merely as a crime, but also from a social perspective. Society must consider what kind of environment and system needs to be created so that such cruel and revenge-driven thoughts do not develop in children at such a young age. This incident is truly very shocking,” he added. The case relates to the death of 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal, who died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. The incident was initially treated as an accidental death after his fiancée, Siya Goyal, told family members and police that he had slipped during a trek.Pune Rural Police later alleged that Ketan was pushed into the gorge by Siya Goyal, 20, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, 22. Both have been arrested and booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to murder and criminal conspiracy.According to police, the investigation was supported by CCTV footage, call records and other digital evidence. Officers have also claimed that Siya had expressed reluctance about the marriage and was under family pressure to go ahead with it.Investigators further allege that she repeatedly persuaded Ketan to visit Lohagad Fort before the incident and that there had been earlier unsuccessful attempts to kill him.The accused remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
