Jaipur: The health department’s food safety team Tuesday seized 53,256 cans of Red Bull Energy Drink from a warehouse of Adarsh Associate in the VKI Road No 1 area.Food Safety and Drug Control commissioner Dr T Shubhamangala said officials collected samples of the caffeinated beverage under the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act during the inspection.Officials said the cans carried the claim, ‘energy drink, vitalizes body and mind,’ which prima facie amounts to a misleading advertisement under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines.The samples have been sent to the State Food Laboratory for analysis. If the claims are found to violate labelling and advertising norms, legal action will be initiated under the Act, officials said.The dept also urged consumers to remain vigilant against food products carrying misleading claims and report any such cases to the authorities.
