Theft in head constable’s house in Mangaluru

Bengaluru: A 55-year-old farmer was robbed of her gold mangalya chain, weighing around 85 grams and worth nearly Rs 9 lakh, after an unidentified man grabbed her by the neck from behind. The incident took place around 4.30pm Wednesday in Hosahalli village near Hunasamaranahalli in northeast Bengaluru.According to the complaint filed by Lakshmidevamma, she was plucking flowers near her neighbour Venkataswamappa’s house when the miscreant allegedly attacked her. The accused then fled on a two-wheeler parked nearby. The victim described him as a man aged around 35, with a heavy build, wearing a black T-shirt, a backpack and a helmet.The stolen chain included two mangalya pieces, two gold bullets, and a pendant. The incident took place hours after a miscreant grabbed gold mangalya chains from two women at their house in Kadusonnappanahalli. Bagalur police have registered both cases. A senior officer suspects that the same person committed both crimes.
