66-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife in their Bengaluru home, suspecting infidelity.

BENGALURU: A 66-year-old mason allegedly murdered his 58-year-old wife at their west Bengaluru home around Tuesday midnight, suspecting her fidelity. He later attempted to end his life, police said.Devi, a contract sweeper at the Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna railway station in Majestic, lived with her husband Kumar at Sanjeevininagar in Moodalapalya. Their two daughters are married and live separately, while the son stays with his wife in the same locality.

Kumar allegedly attacked Devi while she was asleep and struck her on the neck with a machete. She died on the spot.After the assault, Kumar allegedly called his son and informed him of the killing, stating that he intended to die by suicide. The son rushed to the house and found his father attempting to hang himself. He intervened and alerted police.Govindarajanagar police personnel detained Kumar and shifted him for medical attention before placing him under arrest.A senior police officer said they suspect that Kumar had been suspecting his wife’s fidelity for the past two years. The suspicion reportedly began during a family trip to Sabarimala, where he saw her speaking to the driver hired for the journey and suspected an affair.
