Bengaluru: A routine midnight repair call turned violent for Bescom staff in Thyagarajanagar Sunday when they were assaulted while parked on the roadside to collect equipment.According to a complaint by lineman Basavaraj S Dinni of Bescom unit-2, the incident occurred at 1 am after he received a call about a snapped electric wire near Muneshwara temple. Dinni, along with colleague Kiran Tarase and driver Prakash, first assessed the damage and then returned to the office to collect a ladder, wires, and other repair equipment.As they parked their van on the roadside, two men on a scooter allegedly abused them and questioned the vehicle’s placement. The confrontation escalated when one attacker struck Dinni in the right eye with a stone while the other assaulted him from behind. Tarase and Prakash were also attacked when they tried to intervene. The assailants then fled, issuing death threats against the linemen.The staffers noted the scooter number as KA-05-KN-8585, approached Banashankari police. They underwent treatment at Victoria Hospital before filing a formal complaint.
