Kolkata: The state govt has directed all departments, district administrations and civic bodies to organise a week-long series of programmes under the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from Aug 9 to 17, culminating in Independence Day celebrations.In a notification, Nabanna asked all departments, district magistrates and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to ensure widespread public participation, following guidelines issued by the Union ministry of culture.Authorities have been instructed to encourage households, commercial establishments and institutions to display the National Flag in accordance with the Flag Code of India. Govt offices, educational institutions and public spaces have also been asked to organise mass renditions of Vande Mataram and other patriotic songs.

The advisory calls for Tiranga exhibitions, quiz, essay and painting competitions, debates, lectures, marathons, cycle rallies, cleanliness drives and tree plantation programmes. Prominent govt buildings and monuments will be illuminated in the Tricolour, while cultural events showcasing India’s freedom movement will also be held.Departments have been asked to publicise the campaign through print, electronic and social media, encourage citizens to upload selfies with the National Flag on the designated portal, and ensure compliance with the Flag Code while submitting activity reports.
