The victim’s mother indicated that she may be fielded from the Panihati constituency in North 24 Parganas. She added that her name is expected to feature in the BJP’s second list of candidates, which is likely to be released soon.

She revealed that she had received an offer from the party earlier but was not in a position to accept it at the time.

Explaining her decision, she said she now feels ready to take on a political role.
“I had received an offer from the BJP long back, but I was not mentally prepared then. Now, I have decided to contest because I want justice for my daughter,” she said.
She also alleged that the state government attempted to hinder the investigation and delay justice in the case.

The victim’s mother criticised the current administration, accusing it of failing to ensure accountability. She further stated that her political entry is aimed at removing the present government from power.
The BJP has been vocal in criticising the state government over the handling of the case, while the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has denied all allegations and maintained that due process is being followed.

BJP leader Arjun Singh had recently met the victim’s parents, fuelling speculation about her possible entry into politics.
