South 24 Parganas tops the survey list with more than 4.81 lakh households, followed by Murshidabad with 4.42 lakh. North 24 Parganas is third on the list with 3.84 lakh.

Kolkata: The state panchayats and rural development (P&RD) department has completed a survey of more than 54.6 lakh households across the state for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The last date for the survey was Aug 31.This was the first time the state P&RD department introduced a self-survey through which eligible persons were allowed to apply online on their smartphones without visiting any office to get rural housing benefits. There were nearly 7 lakh applications for the self-survey.South 24 Parganas tops the survey list with more than 4.8 lakh households, followed by Murshidabad with 4.4 lakh. North 24 Parganas is third on the list with 3.8 lakh.The projected minimum survey was 44.4 lakh, and the completion of the survey showed a 123% increase overall. “The final list will be prepared after a thorough scrutiny of the survey list and applications from self-surveys. Funds will be released after that,” a senior P&RD official said.Centre has approved construction of 1 lakh houses under PM Awas in Bengal.
