He said the two accused were arrested from neighbouring states.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a football tournament in his Bhabanipur constituency, Adhikari also said BJP MP Ananta Maharaj, who had made “unsavoury” comments about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, had deleted his Facebook post and should refrain from making comments against national icons in future.
“He is a senior citizen and has withdrawn his comments. I take it as a positive step, but I must reiterate that he made an inappropriate comment,” Adhikari said.
“Ananta Maharaj was given the Banga Bibhushan award by the earlier government. We have taken it away from him. We arrested five people and 282 Facebook posts were taken down. A total of six FIRs were lodged in this regard,” he said.
Asked about an FIR lodged against Ananta Maharaj in Cooch Behar, Adhikari said, “Law will take its own course.”On the RG Kar case, Adhikari said three IPS officers had been suspended, and the medical council registration of those embroiled in the alleged scam had been cancelled.
“On a complaint lodged by her father, Barrackpore police hunted down two (accused), and the other absconding accused will be arrested soon,” he added.
Ghosh was arrested from a hideout at Balasore in Odisha on Thursday afternoon.

Adhikari alleged that the TMC government had provided protection to the police officers suspected of involvement in the case.
Ghosh was arrested over his alleged involvement in the “hurried cremation” of the doctor, who was raped and murdered at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata in 2024, police said.
Ghosh was arrested on charges of destruction of evidence, criminal conspiracy, and forcing someone to carry out an act against their will, police said.
The former Panihati MLA was seen at the hospital on the evening of August 9, 2024 — the day the body of the intern doctor was discovered. He had also allegedly held a meeting with the medical college’s then principal Sandip Ghosh, who was later arrested, and then seen accompanying the hearse which transported the body to the crematorium.
The victim’s father alleged that the accused were also present at his house where the body was first brought and exerted pressure on the family to quickly take it to the crematorium despite their unwillingness to do so.
Ghosh’s son Tirthankar was arrested on July 13 over his alleged involvement in post-poll violence and extortion.
