A Canadian woman of Chinese origin has been arrested for allegedly spying while working as an intern at the military headquarters of the Nato (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) alliance, according to Belgian prosecutors.

Belgium’s Federal Prosecutor’s Office said it was tipped off by Nato security services, which led to a raid of the suspect’s home and workplace inside the Nato headquarters.

“She is suspected of spying on behalf of a third country and of being a member of a criminal organization,” the prosecutors’ office said in a statement on Saturday.

The woman was working as an intern in Nato’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers (Shape) Europe in Mons, Belgium.

Here’s what we have learned about the alleged spying incident.
