Kolkata: An FIR has been registered against Trinamool Congress candidate from Behala West Ratna Chatterjee and several other party workers after the BJP accused her — and her workers — of being involved in a vandalism at their party office in the Parnasree area on Sunday afternoon. Six Trinamool workers have been arrested so far.The FIR on Sunday named Chatterjee and six others under BNS sections 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 324(4) (mischief), 117(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 303(2) (theft) and 54 (abettor present when incident took place). The six were identified as Kajal Roy (50), Tapas Aich (46), Puran Gurung (43), Monti Singh (31), Debasish Nag alias Bapi Nag (57) and Akash Thapa (29).Chatterjee, who was the MLA of Behala East after the last assembly poll, initially released a video claiming that Trinamool was not involved. She said it was the BJP that was inciting unrest. She added, “I always thought the EC was an autonomous body. If they are now acting on the BJP’s instructions, what can be done?”According to police, information was received by Parnashree PS that some flags and flexes near BJP party office on Upen Banerjee Road were damaged by Trinamool workers. The matter was also reported to ARO Behala West.A cop tried to disperse the accused, but was unable to do so as he was outnumbered by them. When reinforcements from Parnasree PS reached the spot, the men fled. “Cops were forced to make arrests under EC pressure. But, many have been released. Do not take law in your hands. Resist like this,” said leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari.
