Begusarai: Police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused after a video of a young woman being brutally assaulted and allegedly raped in a hotel room in Begusarai surfaced on Tuesday. In the video, the woman could be seen being pulled by her hair and thrashed with slippers by a man, who also hurled expletives at her.Begusarai SP Manish said an FIR was lodged by the woman at Begusarai town police station late Monday evening. He said the incident took place on Sunday in a hotel room on NH-31 in the town area.“The woman while she was on her way for her work on Sunday, she met her neighbour Vikram Manjhi, who coaxed her to ride his bike and took her to a hotel situated on the highway. One Rohit Kumar, already present on the hotel premises, took her to a room on some pretext and later locked the room from inside where she accused Rohit of brutally assaulting and raping her,” he said.The SP said Rohit is a resident of Bhagwanpur police station area. “The medical examination of the woman was conducted on Tuesday. Police have secured the hotel room where the incident is claimed to have taken place. This apart, an FSL team has also been pressed to help investigate the matter. Police are carrying out raids to arrest the accused,” the SP said.
