Director Suresh Triveni has nothing but praise for Triptii Dimri, but he admits there was a brief period when he feared he might lose her to stardom. With ‘Maa Behen’ earning appreciation from viewers following its release, the filmmaker reflected on casting the actress long before ‘Animal’ transformed her into one of the most talked-about names in Bollywood.According to the director, Triptii had committed to ‘Maa Behen’ even before ‘Animal’ arrived in theatres. Recalling the early stages of the project, he shared that he and writer Pooja Tulani travelled to Bhopal to personally narrate the script while the actress was busy filming ‘Dhadak 2’.Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Suresh shared, “She is a dream. She is one of the easiest people I’ve ever worked with. She shows up, she has no hang-ups, she’s a big star right now, and I remember I had locked her a month before ‘Animal’. We had gone to her when she was shooting for ‘Dhadak 2’ – Pooja Tulani, my writer, and I flew to Bhopal to narrate the script. And she readily agreed. After a month, ‘Animal’ was a superhit.”

Suresh Triveni’s concern that followed ‘Animal’

The phenomenal success of ‘Animal’ dramatically altered Triptii’s career trajectory, turning her into one of the industry’s most sought-after actors. Triveni admitted that the film’s box-office triumph made him question whether she would still choose to remain part of his comparatively smaller project.“My fear was whether she would end up doing my film, the tiny little film that we’re trying to do. So my messages with her are terrific. I asked her, are you doing this film or not? And she would say, ‘Sir…’ There is a certain chill vibe about her. In fact, there is zero stress, at least what she shows on her face.”Beyond her professional commitment, Triveni also spoke about the actress’s ability to remain grounded despite the intense public attention that has come her way in recent years. The director believes that Triptii has developed a unique sense of balance, allowing her to navigate both praise and criticism without letting either affect her outlook.“She’s gone through so much in terms of being judged. She’s moved beyond it. She’s reached a Zen state, or at least she pretends to. And the best part about her is she’s a completely dedicated student.”

The fun-loving side of Triptii Dimri

While audiences often associate Triptii with serious performances, Triveni revealed that she brings plenty of energy and humour behind the scenes. Sharing a lighter observation about the cast dynamics, he said, “But at the same time, she’s a big, what do you call it? Between the three of them, she’s the biggest mastikur. I thought Dharna would be, but she’s the biggest.”

A strong start for ‘Maa Behen’

Also featuring Madhuri Dixit, Dharna Durgaa and Ravi Kishan, ‘Maa Behen’ has enjoyed a successful run on Netflix since its release. The crime-comedy quickly gained traction among viewers and secured a place among the platform’s most-watched non-English titles globally.Within days of its premiere, the series climbed to the second position on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Films chart and found an audience across multiple international territories, including countries in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. As the show’s popularity continues to grow, Triveni’s comments offer a glimpse into the journey that brought Triptii Dimri on board long before ‘Animal’ changed the course of her career.
