Mangaluru: As a precautionary measure, six beds at the Wenlock District Hospital in the city, and one or two in each taluk hospital across the district have been reserved to treat heat stroke cases, said DHO Dr Thimmaiah HR.He told reporters on Tuesday that people need not panic, and suggested visiting the nearest hospital in case of any health issue related to heat stroke.Due to increasing heat and humidity along the coast, the DHO urged residents to guard against heatstroke. “Currently, no heatstroke cases have been recorded in the district,” he said.Dr Thimmaiah urged the public to use umbrellas and caps when outside, and to avoid going out between 12 pm and 3 pm. He advised staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, buttermilk, or tender coconut, and avoiding carbonated drinks. If children or adults experience heat-related symptoms such as heat cramps, heat tetany, heat syncope, heat edema, or heat exhaustion, they should visit the nearest health centre for treatment, he added.
