Hisar: The Punjab and Haryana high court has outlined a plan to resolve the prolonged dispute over elections to Hisar, Jind, Narwana and Barwala bar associations, with the Bar Council of India (BCI) telling the court that the elections were illegal and proposing ad-hoc committees to run the four associations till Dec 2026.Under the proposal recorded in the court’s Sep 8 interim order, uploaded on Sep 9, ad-hoc committees are to be constituted within a fortnight, followed by fresh elections under the Bar Associations (Constitution and Registration) Rules, 2015. The matter will be next heard on Oct 28.The court directed the four associations to consider the proposal of senior advocate B S Rana, appearing for BCI, at their respective general house meetings and pass resolutions. If the proposed schedule is followed, the meetings are to be convened within the following fortnight.The dispute has also affected the declaration of results in Jind. Following an earlier high court order, the district and sessions judge, Jind, sent the result in a sealed cover in Aug. It is in the custody of the registrar (judicial).Hisar Bar Association election was held on June 12, while elections in Barwala and Jind were held in Feb, and Narwana in March. Advocate Rajat Kalsan had approached the high court challenging the Hisar election. BCI issued directions on June 9 staying the election process in Hisar. Despite the directions, polling was held on June 12 and the results declared.
