Panchkula: The Panchkula police have removed barricades at Majri Chowk on a trial basis following requests from Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), allowing traffic movement through the junction during designated peak hours.Police commissioner Pankaj Nain said the decision was taken after RWAs sought relaxation in traffic restrictions at the busy intersection. He said the arrangement would remain under review and a final decision would be taken after assessing its impact on traffic flow, road safety and commuter convenience.DCP (crime and traffic) Amrinder Singh said the barricades were removed from Friday for a few days on an experimental basis. During the trial period, the route will remain open daily from 8am to 10am and 4pm to 6pm.Traffic police personnel will closely monitor vehicle movement, traffic volume, congestion and other road safety parameters during the period. The department will analyse the data collected before deciding whether to continue the arrangement permanently or make modifications.Police said the initiative aims to balance commuters’ convenience with the need to ensure smooth and safe traffic movement at one of the city’s key junctions.
