Patna: The railways inaugurated a state-of-the-art barrack, exclusively for female RPF personnel, at Samastipur station under Samastipur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) on Wednesday. According to ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, the barrack has been named ‘Janki Mahila Barrack’. It is designed to provide a comfortable and secure resting place for women RPF personnel, many of whom come from other states and serve the division with dedication and sincerity, he said.The newly built barrack is fully air-conditioned and houses 15 beds, and equipped with modern amenities to ensure the well-being of the personnel. “Facilities include a modular kitchen, washing machine, refrigerator, and a 55-inch television for recreation and relaxation for women armed personnel. The barrack aims to create a supportive environment for the women force, recognising their growing contribution and critical role in ensuring passengers’ safety and railway property protection,” the CPRO said. Samastipur divisional railway manager (DRM) Vinay Srivastava said the initiative reflects the railways’ commitment to empowering its women workforce by addressing their basic needs and enhancing their living standards.
