Barnala: In the eye of storm for brutal lathi charge on protesting sanitation workers, including women, Barnala DSP (Sub Division) Satbir Singh has been placed under suspension. The official has been suspended under Rule 4(1)(a) punishment and appeal rules, 1970 upon an inquiry conducted by Patiala Range Deputy Inspector General.As per the brief order issued by the office of the Director General of Police, his headquarter will be 4th commando battalion, SAS Nagar, during the suspension period. The sanitation workers as well as the functionaries of various political parties were demanding strict action against the DSP. “By placing the DSP under suspension, the state govt and the state police has accepted that he overstepped in dealing with the protesters,” they said.
