Baramulla, June 17: Baramulla Police on Wednesday issued an advisory for media persons, local news portals, social media handlers, freelance journalists and content creators, urging them to exercise caution while recording, publishing or circulating photographs and videos related to police officers, security personnel, deployments and official movements in order to avoid compromising operational security.

All media persons, local news portals, social media handlers, freelance journalists and content creators operating in District Baramulla are advised to exercise due caution while recording, publishing or circulating videos/photographs of police officers, security personnel, escorts, deployments and official movements.

It is specifically advised that videos/photographs should not disclose or highlight:

1. Security detail of officers/protectees;

2. Deployment pattern and strength of police/security personnel;

3. Access control, frisking, movement and evacuation procedures;

4. Vehicle formations, escort arrangements and route security measures;

5. Communication equipment, command positions or tactical procedures;

6. Close-up visuals of officers/personnel engaged in sensitive duties;

7. Any other visual that may reveal operational tradecraft or security arrangements.

Publication of such content without permission can compromise security, expose personnel to avoidable risk and assist hostile elements in analysing procedures, identifying weaknesses and planning adverse action.

Media coverage of public events and official programmes is welcome; however, it must be undertaken in a responsible manner and without compromising operational security.

Prior permission should be obtained wherever recording of police/ security arrangements or officers on duty is involved. All concerned are advised to strictly adhere to this advisory.
