Lucknow: A woman employed at Mahila Shakti Kendra in Barabanki has sought police protection, alleging stalking, harassment and death threats by a man from Hardoi after she refused to enter into a relationship with him.The complainant, a resident of BBD area, is posted at an office functioning from the Barabanki district collectorate premises. In her complaint to police, she alleged that the accused, identified as Ankit alias Prashant of Chanda Mahmoodpur in Hardoi, began following her after she left work on Sept 24.She told police that after completing her duty, she was travelling home in an autorickshaw when the man allegedly followed her and repeatedly pressured her to start a relationship. When she declined, he allegedly threatened her with severe consequences, including killing her.The woman further alleged that the accused came to her workplace the next day and continued the harassment. After she reached the office, he allegedly abused her, made obscene gestures and reiterated threats, causing her to fear for her safety.She alerted officials and staff at the office, following which police were informed via the 112 emergency helpline. The accused allegedly fled before police arrived at the spot.City circle officer Sangam Kumar said an FIR was registered on the basis of the complaint and police teams were making efforts to trace and arrest the accused.
