Ahmedabad: Scholarships meant for 59 meritorious students from secondary schools in Ahmedabad city have remained pending due to incorrect bank details and delays by schools in submitting students’ account information. The scholarships are being disbursed under the Secondary Education Scholarship (SSE) scheme for the academic years 2024-25 and 2025-26.According to a communication issued by District Education Officer, scholarship amounts for students who secured positions in the SSE merit list were transferred directly to their bank accounts. However, several transactions failed due to errors such as incorrect account numbers, discrepancies in the account holder’s name and wrong IFSC codes.Students from schools including Sheth C.N. Vidyalaya, Diwan Ballubhai Secondary School, F.D. High School for Girls, Jai Somnath High School, Shri Ambika Vidyalaya, Chanakya Secondary School, D.P. High School and Matru Chhaya High School are among those affected.Taking serious note of the issue, DEO has directed principals of all secondary schools to submit accurate details of active bank accounts of the listed students to DEO office’s inward section within 10 days of receiving the communication.DEO has warned that failure to submit the details within the stipulated deadline may result in the pending students not receiving their scholarships later. In such cases, the concerned school principal and management will be held responsible for any financial loss caused to the students.
