Varanasi: A 22-year-old Bangladeshi national was arrested by a joint team of the RPF and GRP at Mirzapur railway station on Saturday night after he was found travelling without a ticket on the Guwahati-Delhi Brahmaputra Express.According to GRP in-charge Rajesh Verma, the train arrived at the station around 7:45pm. During routine patrolling, personnel noticed a suspicious youth alighting from an AC coach. On being questioned, he failed to produce a valid ticket and later disclosed that he was a Bangladeshi national.The accused was identified as Mohammad Riyaz, a resident of Majlishpur under Sinet police station in Habiganj district of Bangladesh. Police recovered a mobile phone without a SIM card and documents related to his Bangladeshi citizenship from him.Following the recovery, Intelligence officials reached the station and questioned him. During interrogation, Riyaz told officials that he had been working in scrap-related activities in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, for the past seven to eight years. He had travelled to Bangladesh around two months ago and was returning to Pulwama.Police said Riyaz had entered India by illegally crossing the international border. Proceedings are underway to register an FIR against him for illegal entry into the country.
