Bandi slams Cong for moving apex court against G RAM G Act

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday attacked Telangana govt over its decision to move the Supreme Court against the Centre’s VB-G Ram G Act (Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act), alleging that the Congress was trying to block a scheme that would benefit the poor because it would also earn the Centre political goodwill.“If the scheme is a financial burden on the state, the govt should discuss it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead of going to the Supreme Court to stop its implementation,” Bandi said while addressing reporters in Karimnagar. He said the scheme would help create durable assets in villages while improving the livelihoods of poor families and accused the Congress of putting politics ahead of public welfare.Welcoming the state’s decision to provide breakfast, milk and lunch to students in govt educational institutions, Bandi questioned its reported move to close around 10,000 schools. “Providing breakfast on one hand while shutting schools on the other is contradictory and against the spirit of the Constitution,” he said. The Union minister also demanded an inquiry into the alleged disappearance of coal from Singareni Collieries, questioning why Telangana govt had not acted despite Union minister G Kishan Reddy seeking a probe. “If the state cannot investigate, let it write to the Centre. We are ready to conduct the inquiry and bring those responsible to book,” he said.Earlier, Bandi laid the foundation stone for civic works worth ₹77 lakh, including CC roads and drains, and inaugurated an open gym in Karimnagar.
