Hazaribag: A three-day bandh from Thursday called by TSPC, a banned extremist outfit, to protest against the encounter of its supremo Brajesh Ganjhu by the Uttar Pradesh ATS, affected normal life in Chatra district with bus services remaining suspended. TSPC has called the bandh from Sept 24 in seven districts of Jharkhand for three days alleging that the encounter was fake. The impact was visible at Chatra bus stand, where a deserted look prevailed as buses to Hazaribag, Ranchi, Koderma and Lohardaga, besides Bihar’s Gaya, Aurangabad and Patna remained off the roads.Several passengers were stranded at the bus stand and were forced to depend on auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws for local travel. Mukesh Kumar, a passenger who came to see his ailing grandfather at Chatra town and to return today, said, “I was unaware of the bandh. I am a govt employee in Nawada district of Bihar and am supposed to return today.” Bus services also remained suspended in Lawalong, the native village of Brajesh Ganjhu, though most shops there remained open.Meanwhile, Chatra SP Animesh Naithany appealed to bus owners and drivers to operate services without fear. He said there was no need to be apprehensive and assured people that Chatra Police was fully alert and would stand with them.
