Kanpur: Two people were injured in a suspected jackal attack near a primary school in Abadi village under Tindwari police station in Banda district on Tuesday, triggering fear among residents.According to police, Leela Devi (50) and Sohan Yadav (24) were walking near the school when a jackal emerged from the forest and attacked them.The animal bit Leela on her hand and leg and scratched Yadav. Their screams alerted nearby residents, after which the jackal fled into the forest.Family members rushed the injured to the Primary Health Centre at Tindwari, where they are undergoing treatment.Doctors said both victims were out of danger and had been administered anti-rabies injections as a precautionary measure.Villagers later searched the forest with sticks but could not trace the animal.Residents complained that the number of jackals in the forest surrounding the village had increased in recent days and alleged that the animals frequently strayed into populated areas.
