Balangir: A judge at Tusura judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) court in Balangir district on Tuesday went beyond courtroom protocol to record the statement of a paralysis-afflicted man who could not enter the court building.The matter relates to a 2023 criminal case involving complainant Bhushab Sahu (60) of Atgaon village under Tusura police station limits. Sahu had been directed to appear before the JMFC court for a hearing.On the scheduled date, Sahu arrived at the court complex timely but could not alight from the auto-rickshaw due to his illness and remained seated in the vehicle parked outside.After his counsel brought the matter to the court’s notice, JMFC judge Habibur Rahman Siddiqui came out of the courtroom and walked up to the auto. The judge then recorded Sahu’s statement near the vehicle, enabling him to participate in the judicial process without physical hardship.The act was appreciated by people present on the court premises, who described it as an example of empathy and inclusive justice. The Tusura Bar Association also commended the judge for his sensitive approach towards the ailing litigant. “I appreciate the rare compassion shown towards the complainant. In a true sense, the court is now at the doorstep,” said Saroj Pattnaik, advocate, Tusura.
