Mohali: The court of additional district and sessions judge rejected the bail pleas of two alleged members of the Davinder Bambiha gang. They were accused of threatening people for ransom and arranging illegal weapons for shooters.The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) nominated the accused, Gurkirat Singh, 21, of Mansurpur village in Khamon, and Gursimran Singh alias Sunny Boparai, 27, of Ghudhani Kalan village in Ludhiana district, in a case related to intimidation, extortion and providing weapons to shooters allegedly linked to the gang.The accused had moved bail applications through their counsel. After hearing arguments, the court rejected both pleas.The court said it had prima facie found that both accused were members of the Davinder Bambiha gang, allegedly led by Shaganpreet Singh and Parminder Singh, who are stated to be residing abroad.The court noted that the accused were allegedly involved, along with others, in threatening people to extort money and arranging illegal weapons for shooters allegedly associated with Shaganpreet Singh.The court observed that the allegations were serious and that both accused had allegedly played an active role in the offences. It noted that their release on bail could create a possibility of them absconding, tampering with evidence or influencing witnesses.
