Nagpur: An inspection squad of the state’s agriculture department seized 100 bags of subsidised urea allegedly diverted for industrial use by a factory at Kalmeshwar, 25km from the city. The urea is strictly meant for agricultural use and has to be sold through registered farm input shops, said a press release by the agriculture department. The company was found to be using the urea to make melamine and resins. Urea is the key raw material for both products.The action happened following inputs from local farmers and social activists. The samples were sent for further examination, and an offence was registered against the owner of the factory, the release said. The action was led by the joint director (agriculture) for Nagpur division, Imesh Ghatge, and deputy director, Ravindra Manohare.
