Prayagraj: A man was allegedly hacked to death by his two brothers over a property dispute in the Mauaima area of the district on Saturday. The victim’s wife was also injured while trying to save him.The deceased, Santosh Kumar Vishwakarma, 45, had returned to his native village Badalpur from Mumbai early Saturday. Police said Santosh and his brothers had been locked in a land partition dispute for nearly a year. Family members told police that around 7 am, Santosh entered the house and found his brothers, Ashok and Vinod, digging the foundation for a new house. He objected and asked them to halt construction until the property division was settled, sparking a heated argument.Santosh’s wife, Archana, alleged that the accused suddenly attacked him with a spade and killed him on the spot. She was also injured while trying to intervene.The attack caused panic in the locality, and residents alerted police after hearing screams from the house.SHO Mauaima Ram Murti Yadav said an FIR has been registered against five named accused, including Ashok, Vinod, their wives and another family member, on the complaint of Archana.Police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused.
