Lucknow: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Monday inaugurated a new state-of-the-art training centre at Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhya, and launched a competency based training programme for technical personnel involved in aircraft navigation systems.The training facility was inaugurated by AAI executive director SK Malik.The newly launched competency based training and assessment programme on distance measuring equipment (DME) will run till Aug 14.“The course has brought together communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) engineers and officers from airports across the country for specialised training in the operation, maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of DME systems, which help aircraft accurately determine their distance from ground based navigation stations during flight,” said airport director Dhirendra Singh.Equipped with modern audio visual systems, digital presentation tools and smart classroom facilities, the training centre will also be used for workshops and capacity building programmes for air traffic control, CNS and other operational and technical departments.
