Chennai: Citing data from the National Crime Records Bureau, chief minister M K Stalin said in the assembly on Thursday that Tamil Nadu was the safest state for women and children. The statement came in response to BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran’s allegation that crimes against women rose by nearly 50% in three years in the state. Bhubaneswar: Santoshini Dash, jailer of Kantabanji sub-jail in Balangir district, has been suspended for alleged misconduct and dereliction of duty, according to an order issued by the Odisha prisons directorate on Thursday. “A disciplinary proceeding has been initiated against her for her gross misconduct,” the order read. Gurgaon: Three days after a fire and a series of explosions in Faridabad left 37 people injured, two people, including the son of one of the owners of the workshops, died on Thursday.Abhishek Monga (32) and his father Vijay, owner of Kalkaji Lubricants, had suffered serious injuries in the fire that took place at two workshops in the Mujesar industrial area on Monday.
