Patna: Despite Bihar and Patna recording a rainfall deficit, the Ganga has risen above the danger mark at several locations in the city with experts attributing the rise to rainfall in upstream catchments, including parts of Nepal and the Himalayan region.Atul Aditya Pandey, professor and former head of the geology department at Patna University, said the Ganga receives substantial inflow from tributaries on both its northern and southern sides. Jamshedpur: Bodies of Dhatkidih, Kandra residents Rahul Hansda (23) and Tapan Pradhan (21), missing since Aug 17, were recovered Saturday from a forest near Ramchandrapur-Rapcha football ground under Kandra police station, Seraikela-Kharsawan. Families lodged missing complaints on Aug 20 and suspected abduction. Police detained two local youths and, using interrogation clues, excavated the site and found the bodies buried. Investigators suspect killings linked to a mobile phone theft dispute, though the motive is unconfirmed. Thiruvananthapuram: The first-year improvement examinations for higher secondary and vocational higher secondary students will be held from Oct 12 to 17, said the joint director of higher secondary examination wing.The examination dates were announced based on a govt order issued to conduct the improvement examination in Oct.Earlier, the Plus One improvement examination was conducted in March along with the Plus Two examination. This had caused students considerable difficulties, including mental stress.
