Chennai: A 28-year-old construction worker from West Bengal died after an iron rod fell on his head while demolishing the Metrowater’s water tank in Kodungaiyur.The deceased was identified as Jameer Hussain, a native of West Bengal, who was employed in the demolition of an unused one-lakh-litre water tank on Second Main Road in R V Nagar, Kodungaiyur. The demolition work had been in progress since July 20.According to the police, the accident occurred around 11am while workers were dismantling the structure. Thiruvananthapuram: An indigenous drug-eluting stent developed by scientists and cardiologists at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) was launched at the annual conference of the Interventional Cardiology Council of Kerala (ICCK) held in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday. The stent, named ‘Chitracore’, was unveiled by Invasive Technologies, which received the technology from SCTIMST through a technology-transfer arrangement.The stent has been developed entirely by SCTIMST scientists and cardiologists and is being manufactured in partnership with Invasive Technologies.
