The country is celebrating its 80th Independence Day, and Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff joined the celebrations in Mumbai. Recently, a video of the actors taking a break from playing cricket to hoist the national flag has been doing the rounds on social media. However, it was Akshay’s thoughtful gesture that won him praise on social media.

Akshay Kumar removes shoes to hold national flag
The clip shows Akshay removing his shoes before holding and waving the national flag as everyone sang Jana Gana Mana. The caption of the video read, “While playing cricket, they remembered that today is August 15, Independence Day. So Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff stopped the cricket match and got the Indian national flag brought there.”
It went on to read, “Since there was no pole there to hoist the flag at a height, Akshay Kumar first took off his shoes out of respect for the Indian national flag, then held the flag in his hands and stood on a chair. Then everyone there, including him and Tiger Shroff, sang India’s national anthem and celebrated Independence Day by saluting the Indian national flag.”

Akshay also wished his fans on Independence Day. He wrote on Twitter, “May the glory of our tricolor endure forever, with hope in every heart and a dream of a better tomorrow in every eye. Heartfelt Independence Day wishes to all of you. Jai Hind!”

Akshay was last seen in the multi-starrer Welcome to the Jungle, which did decent business at the box office. He has a busy schedule ahead. He will star in Priyadarshan’s Haiwaan with Saif Ali Khan. He also stars in the Marathi film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat and has a cameo in Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal 5.
Speaking to Hindustan Times about his character, the actor had said, “As the title goes, I am playing Haiwaan and my character has no grey shades, he’s out and out evil. I always wanted to play a psycho on-screen. With my last four-five films, I have tried to switch between completely different genres: comedy, horror, action, drama. This is my first time playing evil in the truest sense. I like to constantly challenge myself and Haiwaan is that challenge for me.”
Tiger Shroff’s films
Tiger was last seen in Baaghi 4, which was panned by critics and the audience. He will next be seen in Hitman, the action thriller directed by Kannada filmmaker Sachin Ravi. He also has Lag Ja Gale in the pipeline, which also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya. The film is directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Dharma Productions.
