Kolkata: Domestic LPG consumers, who are yet to complete the mandatory e-KYC for their gas connections, will have time until Aug 31 to do so as oil marketing companies (OMCs) told dealers there would be no further extension of the deadline.Dealers suggested that customers yet to complete their e-KYC should not wait until the final day, when another surge in footfall could lead to long queues at dealerships. So far, successive extensions have given consumers additional time to complete the verification process amid heavy rush at LPG dealerships and difficulties faced by many in completing e-KYC through OMC apps. Dealers have now been told that Aug 31 will be the final date for uploading their KYC on the portals for their domestic LPG connections. Those failing to complete e-KYC within the period may no longer be able to avail of domestic cylinders at the regulated consumer price. Instead, such consumers will have to buy LPG cylinders under the free-trade category at the prevailing market price until their e-KYC is completed. But uploading of e-KYC itself will not stop after Aug 31. An official clarified that the uploading of personal details would be a continuing process as new domestic LPG consumers would have to complete the verification for their gas connections.
