Jaipur: Some of the top national athletes will be seen in action when the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) conducts Indian Athletics Series – 2 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on April 5.The one-day competition will be organised under the aegis of AFI in association with Rajasthan Athletics Association on Sunday. Surendra Singh Gurjar will be the organising secretary.The competition and events will be held in accordance with the rules of World Athletics Competition and Technical Rules 2026, said AFI officiating secretary G Srinibas Patnaik.The competition will be organized in four categories — men and women and U-20 men and U-20 women, said Rajasthan Athletics Association secretary Deonarayan Gurjar.Organising secretary Surendra Singh Gurjar said the meet will begin with a hammer throw event which will get underway at 6.30 am followed by the other events.“Morning session will end around 11.30am and after the lunch break the evening session will start at 3pm and all the competitions will get over by 6pm. The preparations have been done and we are ready to host the first big national athletics event in Rajasthan,” Gurjar told TOI on Thursday.For the smooth conduct of the meet, an organising committee has been formed which comprises Surendra Singh Gurjar, Sharda Jadam, Pawan Kumar Arora, Dipendra Singh, Virendra Singh Patwari and Abhishek Meena.Indian Athletics Series -2 eventsSeniors men and women: 100m, 400m, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, 110m hurdles/100m hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put, javelin throw, hammer throw.U-20: 200m, 400m, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, 110m hurdles/100m hurdles, triple jump, javelin throw, hammer throw.
