Bengaluru: Aster Volunteers, the global CSR initiative of Aster DM Healthcare, has launched two state-of-the-art Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Tirupati and Anekal, further strengthening last-mile healthcare access for underserved communities.
The additions mark the 70th and 71st vehicles in the organisation’s global Mobile Medical Services fleet and the 48th and 49th units deployed in India.
In Tirupati, the MMU was introduced in collaboration with Aster Narayanadri Hospital, while the Anekal unit was launched in partnership with Centre for Integral Rural Welfare, Jnana Jyothi, reflecting a multi-stakeholder approach to community healthcare delivery.
Speaking on the initiative, T. J. Wilson, Executive Director, Aster DM Healthcare, said,”The expansion underscores the organisation’s commitment to taking healthcare directly to communities.”
He noted that the units aim to improve preventive screening, enable early diagnosis, and ensure timely intervention, particularly in areas where access to structured care remains limited.
Each MMU is designed with medical-grade interiors and dedicated zones for registration, consultation, examination, and pharmacy services. The vehicles are equipped with ramps for elderly and differently abled patients, power backup, clean water facilities, compliant biomedical waste disposal systems, and GPS-enabled communication for operational efficiency.
The units provide free primary consultations, non-communicable disease screenings, maternal and child health services, health education, and referral linkages for advanced treatment. Integrated digital systems—including electronic medical records, tablet-based registration, and remote data connectivity—support continuity of care, patient follow-up, and real-time impact monitoring.
With these additions, Aster Volunteers continues to expand its outreach model across emerging towns and underserved regions, focusing on accessible, affordable, and preventive healthcare delivery aimed at bridging persistent gaps in primary health access.
