Pune: The Association of Service Providers, Maharashtra, in a representation submitted to Pune DIG of Registration on Wednesday, alleged that around 6,500 online leave and licence agreements were pending registration at sub-registrar offices in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, with some documents awaiting registration for 15 to 20 days.The association also alleged that applicants seeking early registration of their documents were being asked to make additional payments. A delegation led by association president Sachin Shingvi raised the issue with Pune DIG of Registration Abhay Singh Mohite on Wednesday.According to the association, 10 to 15 sub-registrar offices have 1,000 to 1,500 pending documents each, resulting in a significant backlog.The issue has assumed significance as police have stepped up action against landlords and tenants who have not completed police verification or executed online rental agreements.“Registered leave & licence agreements are widely used as proof of residence for RTE admissions, opening bank accounts, vehicle registration, passport applications, marriage registration and obtaining LPG connections. They are also required for GST registration for rented commercial premises,” Shingvi said.“Agreements submitted online by citizens and authorised service providers are scrutinised by sub-registrars before registration. The delays are causing difficulties for applicants who need the documents for official and legal purposes,” he said.Speaking on the issue, Mohite told TOI that the pendency would be cleared within a week. “We have issued instructions to clear the files. The number of pending documents has come down to 4,900, and we will clear the backlog,” he said.
