A man slipped from the terrace of a high rise building in Sector 52 while he was drying mats and carpets on Sunday morning

Gurgaon: A 37-year-old assistant bank manager died after he allegedly slipped and fell into a shaft from the 15th floor of a high-rise residential society in Sector 52 on Sunday morning.The victim, Adil Ahmed Khan, a resident of Sushant Estate in Gurgaon, was employed as an assistant manager with J&K Bank, police said.According to police, the incident took place around 10 am when Khan went to the terrace of the residential building to dry mats and carpets. During the process, he lost his balance and slipped near the edge of the terrace, falling into the shaft from the 15th floor. He lived on the 12th floor of the building.Police received a call around 11 am about a man falling from the building.Residents of the society alerted security personnel and police after hearing a loud noise. “A police team from the local police station reached the spot and took Khan to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” an officer said.Police said preliminary inquiry indicated it was an accidental fall. “No foul play has surfaced so far during the investigation,” the officer added.Officers added that statements of family members and residents of the society were being recorded.“The victim went to the terrace to dry carpets and mats. During the process, his leg slipped and he fell into the shaft. Further proceedings are underway,” an officer privy to the investigation said.The body was later sent for post-mortem examination and handed over to the family after the procedure.Police said they were examining CCTV footage installed in and around the building to ascertain the sequence of events. An inquest proceeding under Section 194 of BNSS was initiated.
