Lucknow: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday described the 2027 Assembly elections as a “do or die battle” for the party and called upon the cadre to begin full-scale preparations to pave the way for the formation of SP govt in the state.Addressing a meeting of SP legislators at the party’s state headquarters in Lucknow, Akhilesh cautioned party workers to remain alert against what he termed the Bharatiya Janata Party‘s “conspiracies” ahead of the crucial polls.

He said the state elections were round the corner and said that the party should work with complete commitment and unity.“Democracy, brotherhood and social harmony can be protected only by removing the BJP from power. The BJP has strayed completely from the path of truth and has no connection with healthy politics,” Akhilesh alleged, accusing the ruling party of functioning like a “gang of criminals”.The SP chief said the assembly elections would be extremely significant, not just for Uttar Pradesh but for national politics as well.He claimed that the BJP’s exit from power in Uttar Pradesh would have a cascading effect, weakening the party at the Centre. Despite having vast resources, he said, the BJP was “rattled” by the PDA alliance.Criticising the BJP govt in the state, he said that the BJP had deceived the public in the name of development.Akhilesh also launched a sharp attack on the BJP’s economic policies, claiming the state’s economy was “completely derailed”.Referring to international trade agreements, he warned that recent arrangements, including those involving the US, would severely hit Indian agriculture.
