Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said the Goa assembly election is expected in Feb 2027, while clarifying that the Election Commission will take the final decision. He also announced that the six-lane elevated Porvorim corridor will be inaugurated on Sep 10.“As per my knowledge, the assembly election will be held in Feb 2027, but the election commission will decide,” Sawant said.Asked whether ST-reserved constituencies would be rotated, Sawant said the reservation process was being handled by the Election Commission, which would be better placed to answer.A section of BJP members has been pushing for rotation of ST-reserved constituencies, triggering an internal debate ahead of the polls. Sawant, however, downplayed the discontent and said the party welcomed ST political reservation and had resolved the concerns. “It is a family issue, and we have resolved it,” he had said.
