Patna: Gaya’s Shubham Kumar, who emerged as the Bihar topper and secured the third position nationally by scoring 100 percentile in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026, was specially congratulated in the Bihar legislative assembly on Tuesday.Twelve candidates achieved 100 percentile this year, including Shubham Kumar from Nadarganj in Gaya. The NTA released the results of the first phase of JEE Main on Monday. Nearly 60,000 students from Bihar appeared for the examination this year.Speaker Prem Kumar, while reading out the congratulatory motion in the House, described the achievement as a matter of pride for the state. Members of the House applauded the accomplishment by thumping their desks.Parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Choudhary said Shubham’s success was a source of inspiration for the state. He also congratulated the MLAs from Gaya district and said the achievement showed that students from Bihar are making their talent recognised at the national level.Shubham, the Bihar topper, belongs to a middle-class family. His father, Shiv Kumar, runs a hardware shop, while his mother, Kanchan Devi, is a homemaker.
