Vasai: A 50-year-old tribal died by suicide on Sunday night at his home in Vasai (W), after he was allegedly assaulted by his employer, a Chinese stall owner, Mallen Dsouza, in the afternoon. The victim, identified as Ganesh Varkhande, had not reported to work for the last four to five days, as he was ill.Police registered an FIR and booked the accused under BNS sections, including abetment of suicide. According to the complaint, Varkhande had taken a loan of Rs 4,000 from his employer, but had been unable to report to work due to ill health. On April 5 around 12.30 pm, Dsouza reportedly came to the victim’s residence, verbally abused him, and physically assaulted him over the pending amount and also for not reporting to work.
