Guwahati: Assam recorded 95.42% completion in Census 2027 self-enumeration, covering over 12 lakh households across all 35 districts.The state’s self-enumeration period ran from Aug 2 to 16, followed by the house-listing and housing census from Aug 17 to Sept 15. The nationwide first phase is being conducted between Apr 1 and Sept 30, with states assigned different schedules.CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said on ‘X’ that Assam set a “New Benchmark in Self-Enumeration.”“12,20,536 households across all 35 districts of Assam have recorded a 95.42% completion rate in the Self-Enumeration exercise, a key component of the House Listing Operations under #Census2027,” Sarma added.Thanking residents for participating and accurately providing details, he wrote, “This response reflects the spirit of ownership our citizens have shown towards this vital exercise.”Sarma urged people to extend similar cooperation to enumerators during the next phase.Introduced for the first time as part of the Centre’s digital census initiative, self-enumeration is a component of the house-listing and housing census. During the door-to-door phase, officials will verify online submissions and collect details from households that did not use the facility.
